Do you think iron age man thought that in the future energy use would be at the forefront of peoples minds?

Quite an odd question but applicable I feel. In the advanced world we have all the mod cons available in today, if we are cold we can be warmed up, if we are hot we can be cooled down. All through the use of electricity and therefore energy.
